ABOUT
I am a retired Canadian Armed Forces Aerospace controller and six time Ironman finisher. In retirement I have returned to my first love, music and am working as a gigging drummer / percussionist, as well as taking both piano and vocal lessons.
I have an extensive background in teaching and a Master of Education degree. I am taking new students and I am available for individual concerts or Jam sessions.
I have an broad range of professional percussion instruments including Cajons, Djembes, Xylophone, Bongos, Congas, Pandeiro, as well as a full PA, hand percussion and both acoustic and electronic drum sets.
I am a member of Divided Highway, a Contemporary, Classic & Country Rock band. I am occasionally a guest percussionist (Djembe, Cajon, Bongos etc.) for Alain Tambay. I was previously a member of Grinnin' Sinners (Rockabilly), Maiden Stone (Classic and Modern Rock) and the Registered Retirement Blues Band (Blues, Swing and Classic Rock) . I sometimes play at Open Mic or Jam sessions, such as Danby's in Richmond.
I started drumming in 1969 at age six, By the time I was fourteen, I had won the school music award and started teaching drums. Since then I have completed a Master of Education. I have taught on and off throughout the years and played with two military concert bands. I am capable of playing almost any style of music, including Rock, Funk, Pop, Jazz, Blues, and Latin. I am proficient at reading music and playing by ear.
I also am capable of providing some backing and lead vocals.
I live in Stittsville and I am looking to play with other musicians in their 40s or older. I am available most days, evenings and weekends for gigging, practice or to teach. I am very reliable and love playing.
